Advanced Faculty Training initiative of C-DAC Hyderabad and Department of Information Technology

Major Objective of this programme is to impart Advanced Training through Innovative and Participative learning-teaching approaches adopting a mini-project based training framework for engineering faculties in the areas of Information Technology

Realizing the need for skilled manpower in advanced areas of IT, the Department of Information Technology (DIT) has initiated a new programme on “Manpower Development for the IT Industry”. The primary objective of this programme is to overcome the shortage of employable engineering graduates. Based on the current education system, it may be more useful if the engineering faculties are regularly exposed to the needs of IT industry so that they can in-turn nurture, educate and mould their students while they are still in the college. Analyzing the need from the industry, Embedded Software, System Software and Application Software, were identified as key focus areas. Based on the strengths in these core areas, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), a Scientific Society of DIT was given the responsibility of conducting Advanced Faculty Training Programme.

Envisioning future engineering faculties and students of India, C-DAC Hyderabad is planning to develop a novel approach into the engineering education community through its Faculty Updation Programme (Advanced Faculty Training ), laying great emphasis on hands-on and imparting practical oriented knowledge, which further enhances and
generates curiosity among faculties as well as the students they teach. The programme is designed to emphasize and gain knowledge on latest technologies that will enable faculties and students of engineering colleges to keep abreast with the rapidly growing knowledge base in Information Technology.
Indian academia is one of the powerful economic development vehicle. The C-DAC’s Faculty Updation Programme (Advanced Faculty Training ) focuses on the universities and institutions of higher education in India to develop skilled manpower in Information Technology fields with strong potentials. The programme is designed to create awareness among engineering faculties about latest technological trends in the field of Information Technology, so that they can act as resource persons in guiding and motivating young graduates to a skilful group who can be directly employable to various IT related services.
Intensive, focused, practical, and highly interactive courses will provide an ample opportunity to address concerns of current engineering faculties. The Advanced Faculty Training program aims to provide hands-on experience to faculties on various fields of Information Technology related to Embedded Software, System Software, and Application Software through its well formulated and proven course framework. The methodology can later be utilized by the faculties to develop and design individual syllabus structures for their students, specific to their area of teaching. This can facilitate enhancing the current pedagogy to a level wherein more of real time exposure can be provided.
